Default Henchman suggestions

We all know how shitty henchman can be once you get past level 5. This isn't just a "make henchies smarter" thread, I'm going to really make some suggestions that should have been in the game from the second henchman were added.

1. Henchman are stupid. Yes, that's all well and good but even a monkey can click and use a skill. They don't need to be as smart as good ole Einstein to play their role well. I don't want them to be MORE INTELLIGENT, I just want them to have role-awareness which could be easily hard-coded into each henchman. For instance:

Mage: stays back further from the group and casts AoE spells etc from a distance.. traditional Mage playstyle.

Monk: stay a ways behind the tank and worry about healing first and foremost the tanker(s) then other people unless someone is very close to dying.

etc.

I've tried to solo some quests/missions on my level 19 W/Mo with a henchie monk.. and i'll sit there and watch my HP drop to 0 while the monk sits there and heals the mage or attacks the mob. Pisses me off quite a bit when I spend 1 hour in a mission to get to the end just to have my moron healer let me die.. and of course, when the tank dies.. the party gets wiped.

2. Henchman are stupid. Yes, they're stupid but this isn't the problem. They just don't realize when and what to attack. Take the Bloodstone Fen mission for example.. when you need to run and plant the seeds to awaken the elders for the bonus, they'll attack the guardians even if you don't. Retards.

There are more but i need to get to class so I'll add some later.

/SIGNED... im lvl 17 w/m using a monk,ranger,cultist. and if i die when we fight life pods. the fight takes forever. cause the monk dont ress, or heal me. but like dmg instead... Ress player always!

They've already improved the henchmen AI to the point where they're better than the average pug. The only point I agree with is the Bloodstone Fen mission. There should be the attack/defend/avoid option for plain hench the same way that there is for heroes.

Other than that, I've had more success with heroes than I have with any human group. But I suppose thats mainly because the average person doesn't know how to really play. For example, warriors with mending who think they are tanks but really know nothing of tanking. I can make a level 1 character and tank level 28s, you just have to know how to do it. It's about positioning. That's beside the point though.

If anything, they should wreck the henchmen so they become stupid the way they did before nightfall where they don't kite and whatnot, that way people will be more inclined to party with other people.

However I'm a lot more advanced than most guild wars players so it's a little different. Most guild wars players can't manipulate henchmen and monster AI to predict how they act and counter it the way I do.

Don't take my opinion to heart though, because I'm a rare type of player. But then again if they make the henchmen too good, the new players will never get good. Learn the hard way.

The henchies are, with the 25.10 update, far superior to most pugs. The only thing they don't have a grasp of is resurrecting, which is a clear bug and needs fixing. A henchman (or hero for that matter) will activate the resurrection skill and cancel it immediately, this will be repeated untill the henchman is either dead or out of energy.
